One of the highlights of this trip was this dinner at Villa Machiavelli; we arrived at the state and were greeted by Mrs. Machiavelli, live musicians, and an aperitif consisting of a glass of Blumond blue bubbly (yummy).
The estate is located at Sant’Andrea in Percussina, in San Casciano Val di Pesa in the province of Florence. Built 500 years ago, the cellar lies beneath the house where Machiavelli lived during his long exile from Florence. We were treated to a tour of the house and the cellar, complete with stories from the period when Machiavelli occupied the state.
Dinner consisted of four courses, plus dessert and vine. We were entertained by live musicians and there was lots of dancing too. A great time was had by all! The drive back to the hotel was punctuated by dancing lights and singing.
